Dra. Wahyu Hidayati, M.Si. (Head of Economics and Business Diploma Program)
Good morning lecturers and faculty staffs from Vocational College and Diploma Program of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada. This fine morning, I have the great pleasure of introducing to you Prof. Walter Maier. Prof. Walter Maier is a rector emeritus from University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg, Germany. He has expertise in public policy. Prof. Maier would be with us here, at Diploma Program of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada, particularly at Department of Applied Economics for one month, this September, as part of the programme carried out by Senior Expertan Service, Germany.
Allow me to give a brief description of Diploma Program of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada. The programme is part of Vocational College Universitas Gadjah Mada. It has three departments: accounting, management, and applied economics. The vision of Applied Economics Department is: “To become a leading diploma study program that produces international-level, professional, excellent, and respected mid-level experts who hold the spirit of Pancasila in 2030”. The department has three missions:
• Administering education and training to create professional, competent, excellent, skilled, moral, and high integrity graduates in the field of Regional Development, Regional Development Planning, Regional Finance, Property Appraisal, and Banking.
• Producing mid-level experts who could apply and develop their skills independently in accordance with the demand of dynamic work environment.
• Creating an environment conducive to learning, researching, and performing community service in order to deal with global competition.
We hope that the presence of Prof. Maier from 5 to 29 September here would give us great experiences. We also hope that Prof. Maier would enjoy his stay in Indonesia. I want to say once more on behalf of Diploma Programme of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada, welcome. It’s a pleasure to have you here.
